If you are like most, you dread the classic “tell me about yourself” interview question. But with that question comes your greatest opportunity to build a relationship that may lead to a new business opportunity, a new job or even just a great new contact.
Ask yourself what you want people to know about you.
If you are in a professional situation, keep in professional. (Your new potential clients do not need to know that you raise snakes!)
Here is an example: “I am a CPA who specializes in financial planning in the healthcare industry. I currently work for XYZ Partners and travel throughout the Midwest working with our clients on strategies to work more effectively within Medicare and Medicaid programs.”
But here is what most people say, “I am a really fast learner who likes working with people.” or something equally bland and unhelpful. Don’t be that person!
